Easter Newsletter 2024 – Tower Tots

Tower Tots children have had a fantastic term. They have welcomed many new friends, enjoyed fun-filled activities, and explored the natural environment and local community.

We have enjoyed celebrating Careers Day, focusing on people who help us and what the children would like to be when they are older, along with celebrating World Book Day, dressing up as our favourite book characters, bringing books in to share with our friends and having story time in the library.

This term, the children have learned about themselves, Space, and shapes in the environment and celebrated Chinese New Year, Valentine’s Day, St David’s Day and St Patrick’s Day. Our space topic was extremely popular with the children, with parents commenting that they could not believe how much information the children were feeding back to them at home regarding this topic.

Our Mother’s Day stay-and-play session and parents’ afternoon tea were hugely successful. They allowed parents to build relationships with staff, other parents, and children and allowed them to show off all their beautiful work with them. We look forward to more stay-and-play sessions next term.

In Spanish, the children have shown excellent skills for their age, standing up and independently saying numbers 1 – 5 — thanks to our superb Spanish teacher, Mrs Turner.

We enjoy developing our playroom self-regulation areas to support children’s ability to regulate their emotions, thoughts, behaviours, and feelings. The children have expressed what they would like in these areas: lots of sensory resources, sound boxes, bean bags, and calming lights.

Since January, we have worked alongside St Helens Wellbeing Service to achieve the Early Years Healthy Food Award. This includes providing children with a healthy, balanced, nutritious menu daily and developing positive relationships with food. Caterpillar room children have particularly enjoyed serving their lunches independently.

We have had an excellent start to the Tower Tots year and look forward to welcoming our new starters and supporting our older children with transitions into their new schools in the coming months.
