Pre-school

Our term has been an incredible journey filled with new friendships, exciting milestones, and special memories. The children enthusiastically embraced this transition into school life and should be as proud of themselves as we are of them.

In Maths, the children have started exploring basic number skills and discovering the magic of repeating patterns. They recently brought these new skills to life by creating beautiful candy cane Christmas cards for their families and friends—a festive activity full of joy and creativity!

Phonics lessons have been a lively part of our days, with the children enthusiastically learning their letter sounds. A real highlight has been hearing them take turns proudly verbalising these sounds, sharing their progress with smiles and giggles.

One of the week’s highlights has been outdoor learning with Mrs. Boyd. The children have loved crafting, planting, and exploring the school grounds, sparking their curiosity and creativity while connecting with nature.

The term reached its peak with the children’s first-ever Nativity performance. Their confidence as they danced, sang, and shared the story with such enthusiasm was nothing short of inspiring. It was a moment that filled the room with pride and joy.

As we wrapped up the term, we celebrated in style! Class parties, creative crafting sessions, and a magical visit from ZooLab made for an unforgettable final week. The children’s bravery in meeting and even holding the fascinating animals left everyone impressed and delighted.

It has been a term to remember, and we are so proud of all the incredible achievements of our Pre-Schoolers. We wish you a joyful and restful Christmas break filled with family fun. We can’t wait to see everyone again in 2025!

Reception

We have had a fantastic first term in Reception. The children have settled in beautifully, made new friends, worked hard, and had plenty of fun along the way.

They have been focusing on Phase 2 sounds in phonics, making significant progress in letter recognition and sound pronunciation. It has been wonderful to see their reading skills grow throughout the term.

Our topic work on space has been a real hit, with everyone using their creativity and curiosity to learn about stars, planets, and more. It’s been a delight to watch them shine in each area of the classroom as their understanding of space expands. In maths, we have been concentrating on numbers up to 5, and the children have gained a strong grasp by representing these numbers, subitising them, and exploring different ways to compose them.

Art lessons with Miss Carr have given the children a chance to express themselves through a variety of creative activities, while weekly outdoor sessions with Mrs Boyd have been a wonderful opportunity to enjoy nature and make exciting discoveries about the world around them.

As we moved into the festive season, the children participated in many fun Christmas crafts and activities. We were incredibly proud of their Nativity performance—it was outstanding, and they all did a brilliant job. A visit from ZooLab was another highlight, allowing everyone to meet various fascinating animals.

We are so proud of all the children’s achievements this term and can’t wait to see how they continue to grow and learn in the new year. We wish you all a wonderful Christmas and look forward to welcoming you back soon.
